MYMENSINGH: A woman committed suicide after killing her minor daughter in Purahata village of Bohit union under Ishwarganj upazila of the district on Friday.

The deceased were Swapna Akhter, 26 and Jannatul Ferdous, 2.

Local sources said that Swapna Akhter was mentally ill and on Thursday night she went to sleep with her two children Mrinal, 7 and Jannatul Ferdous, 2.

Later, hearing sound of moaning, victim’s relative entered into the room and saw the hanging body of Sawpna and the body of Jannatul Ferdous lying on floor.

Meanwhile, critically injured another child Mrinal was sent to Mymensigh Medical College Hospital.

Ishwarganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Kamrul Islam told banglanews, “Following the incident police held two suspects from the spot.”
