Russian worker of Ruppur power plant found dead in Pabna  Karpov Krill

Police have recovered the body of a 26-year-old Russian man working at Bangladesh’s under-construction Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant from his rented apartment in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.

The deceased, identified as Karpov Krill, was employed as an electrician with Russian contractor company ESKM, police said on Saturday (September 20).

His body was found around 8:00pm at a fifth-floor flat on Hospital Road in the Jigatola area of Ishwardi town, where he had been living alone.

Afzal Hossain, in-charge of Ambagan police outpost, said Krill’s family members in Russia became worried after failing to reach him by phone and alerted the company’s security officials. They visited the apartment with a translator and another Russian colleague. After receiving no response, they broke open the door and found Krill lying face down on the bed. A Russian doctor who arrived shortly after pronounced him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station ASM Abdun Nur said the body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

“The cause of death will be confirmed after autopsy, but initial suspicion is that he died of a brain stroke,” he said, adding that Krill had recently sought treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka.

Once the autopsy is complete, the body will be handed over to his relatives through ESKM, police said.
