A ten-member delegation from Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Gambia, led by Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, deputy secretary general of the West African Zakat and Waqf Forum, held a view-exchange meeting with representatives of Centre for Zakat Management (CZM) Genius Alumni Members.

On Saturday (September 20), the meeting was held at a hotel in Gulshan in the capital, where participants shared experiences and explored development initiatives.

The delegation arrived in Dhaka on Sept 17 under the Islamic Development Bank’s project on capacity development in Zakat, Waqf and Islamic social finance. They are set to stay in Bangladesh until Sept 26 this year. As part of their visit, the delegation participated in the experience-sharing program with the CZM alumni.
Colonel (Retd.) Zakaria Hossain, Head of Corporate Affairs at CZM, moderated the event while Chairman of CZM Niaz Rahim was in the chair and Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, Chief Executive Officer of CZM, was present as a chief guest.

During the session, a detailed discussion on CZM alumni’s health, education, and livelihood programs was held. The delegation shared insights about various zakat- and waqf-based initiatives in their respective countries and responded to different questions and expressed their deep happiness on the activities of CZM alumni in Bangladesh.

CZM Genius Alumni Association President Masudur Rahman, Vice-President Abdullah Al Masud, General Secretary Rakibul Islam, Economic Affairs Secretary Shahidul Islam, Social Welfare Secretary Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Career Affairs Secretary Sheikh Farid, Entrepreneur Affairs Secretary Md. Raisuddin, Office Secretary Ibrahim Ali, Assistant Finance Secretary Ruhul Amin Munna, Dhaka Division Convener Shohel Rana Sabbir and member Shoaib Hossain attended, among others, in the event.

Note that CZM has been working for the past 17 years to institutionalize the collection, management, and effective utilization of zakat and sadaqah for the socio-economic development of underprivileged communities in Bangladesh. So far, CZM’s programs have positively impacted the lives of more than 1.7 million people.
