25 among 7-cop injured in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ: At least 25 people including seven police personnel were injured in a clash between transport workers and law enforcers over boarding in a bus without ticket in Gaital area of the district town on Friday.

Sources said that law enforcers allegedly beat a bus driver while he refused to let enter a police man without ticket.

District Labour Union Organizing Secretary Kaiyum was also beaten up while he went to rescue the driver.

On information, other transport workers staged a demonstration against the incident. At one stage the transport workers called a strike in Gaital inter bus stand area.

The transport workers locked into a clash with the law enforcers while police personnel obstructed the protest.

Police charged batons and opened fire in the area 11:30am, leaving at least 25 people injured including seven police personnel.

Circle Police Superintendent (SP) Liton Kumar Saha alleged that the transport workers hurled bricks and chips aiming police following the incident.

However, police held a bus driver from the spot in this connection, he added.
