Bangladesh and Oman have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in diplomatic training and education, marking a new step in strengthening bilateral ties.
The agreement was signed between the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh and Oman’s Diplomatic Academy following a meeting between Bangladesh’s Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (Sept 25), both sides expressed satisfaction with the enduring and friendly relations between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
Foreign Adviser Hossain thanked the Omani government for hosting over 700,000 Bangladeshi workers and requested the recruitment of additional workers based on the country’s labour needs.
The newly signed MoU is expected to facilitate mutual capacity-building, training programmes, and knowledge exchange between the two diplomatic academies, contributing to stronger institutional linkages and more robust diplomatic engagement between Bangladesh and Oman in the years ahead.
