The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast partly cloudy to temporarily overcast skies over Dhaka and its surrounding areas on Thursday (October 9) with chances of light rain or thunderstorms.
Winds are expected to blow from the south/southeast at a speed of 8-12 km/h, the department said.
Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque added that the axis of the monsoon winds stretches from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and southern Bangladesh up to Assam.
The monsoon is currently less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
On Friday (October 10) morning, light to moderate rain or rain with thunderstorms is likely in parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and in a few areas of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
Some parts of the country may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
The forecast for the following 24 hours from Friday morning indicates light to moderate rain or rain with thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds in many areas of Mymensingh and Sylhet; in parts of Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram; and in a few areas of Rajshahi and Rangpur.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of the country.
