THAKURGAON: An indefinite strike, jointly enforced by Motor Owners’ Association, Motor Workers’ Union and Truck-Tank Lorry Union, began across the district on Sunday morning.

The association and unions came up with the protest programme to press for their demand to stop the locally made shallow pump-run vehicles, known as Nasiman and Kariman, and other illegal three-wheelers plying on the district’s roads.

They called the strike at joint meeting on Monday evening.

District Motor Workers Union general secretary Abdul Zabbar said, “They had been protesting the illegal vehicle plying from long ago. But Nasiman, Kariman, three-wheelers and other illegal vehicles were running on the tip of the administration’s nose.”
