Separate incidents kill 7 in 4-dist

DHAKA: Seven people, including a police officer and a student, were killed in separate incidents in four districts including capital city between Tuesday night and early Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector of police (ASI) Bikash Kumar Ghosh, 37, of Sabujbagh Thana, Raihan, 19, Sadhan Kumar, 35, Dudu Mia, 70, Harunur Rashid, 32 while identity of another could not be known yet.

Two people including a police man were killed and three more injured in a road crash in Sabujbagh area of the city early Wednesday.

Sabujbagh Thana Sub-Inspector Tajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Besides, a college student Raihan committed suicide in his residence at Wapda road area of Rampura in city around 11:00pm, said sources.

On the other hand, a passer-by was killed in a road accident on Banani-Mirpur flyover Tuesday midnight.

Confirming the matter, Cantonment thana police told banglanews, “On information, police recovered body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.”

In Rajshahi, a man was killed in Krishnapur village under Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district over land dispute around 10:00pm.

Puthia Thana Officer-in-Charge Abu Obayda confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In Sirajganj, an elderly man was killed over land dispute in Kazipur of the district.

Confirming the matter, Kazipur Thana Inspector (investigation) Abdul Jalil told banglanews, “A case was filed in this connection.”

In Dinajpur, a man was killed in a road accident at Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur around 9:00pm.

Nawabganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Saeed told banglanews, “A paddy laden truck turned over in the area, leaving the man named Narunur Rashid dead on the spot.”
