President asks brilliants to come forward for economic dev

RAJSHAHI: President M Abdul Hamid on Saturday asked the brilliants to come forward in achieving a complete economic freedom of the countrymen.

“It has not been yet possible to achieve complete economic freedom though we freed the country through a bloody war under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971,” he said.

The President came up with the observation while addressing a program at Bhabaniganj High School ground in the noon.

Indicating the students, he said, “We achieved independence but we are yet to achieve the economic freedom of general people. You have to work with that view.”

“You all have to contribute actively to realize the dream of Bangabandhu’s of Sonar Bangla,” he said.

He also said, “Success doesn’t come so easily. One has to earn it through industry.”

He also urged students to read books beyond their syllabus.

Abdul Hamid also talked about significance of April in the history of Bangladesh.

With Saleha Imarat Foundation chairman Engineer Enamul Haque MP in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, Chairman of Barind Multipurpose Development Authority Nurul Islam Thandu and former State Minister for Industries Affairs Omar Faruq Chowdhury.

Earlier in the day, Saleha Imarat Foundation awarded some 420 students for their outstanding results and 10 individuals for their contributions to various sectors.
