JAMALPUR: Two people died in a fire incident at Tilakpur village under Sadar upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Jarina Begum, 60 and her granddaughter Sabina Yasmin, 9.

Dewanganj Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdul Hannan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sources said that the fire originated from the kitchen of the victims’ house at 12:30am, leaving the Jarina dead on the spot and injured Sabina critically.

Later, Sabina succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital around 2:30am.
