DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday issued a contempt of court rule against 14 people, including industries secretary, for not complying with its order over relocation of Hazaribagh tanneries.
An HC bench comprising Justice Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashraful Kalam issued the rule against them.
In the rule, the court asked 14 officials, including industries secretary Mainuddin Abdullah and DoE director general Raisul Alam Mondol, to explain within two weeks why contempt of court proceedings should not be brought against them for not implementing the order of the court.
On June 23, 2009 the HC directed them to relocate the tanneries of Hazaribagh.
The rule was issued as the officials did not take any step for shifting the tanneries even after the deadline fixed by the HC.
