DHAKA: The intern doctors of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) assaulted eight journalists when they were filming doctors’ attacking scenes on patients on Sunday night.
Over the allegation of negligence in discharging duty during the RMCH incident, took place around 10:30pm, the administration withdrew Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Thana Saidur Rahman.
The injured journalists are- cameraperson Rayhan of Cannel 24, Reporter Abrar Shahir, Salahuddin of the daily Sonar Desh, Masud of Masranga Television, Jafar Iqbal Liton of Independent Television, Rubel of ATN News, Rassel of Jamuna Television.
Meanwhile, the doctors vandalized cameras of channel 24.
Of the injured, Rassel was sent to Dhaka and others were given first aid.
On the other, protesting the incident, journalists took position in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Later, on information, Rajshahi Sadar constituency Member of the parliament, also Director of RMCH, Fazle Hossain Badsha, Police Super Mahabubur Rahman and City Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul visited the spot and assured journalists of taking proper steps against the involved people.
Earlier on Sunday, relatives of a patient locked into altercation and at one stage the man slapped an intern doctors which triggered a clash. On information, journalists rushed to the spot and started to film the incidents. But doctors attacked the journalists with hokey sticks, leaving eight journalists injured.
