DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Monday asked detective branch of police to submit an investigation report on May 11 over case of assaulting journalist at Mitford Hospital in the city.

Magistrate of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Keshob Roy Chowdhury passed the order.

Earlier in the morning, Ekushey Television (ETV) sued five persons, including Director of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital Brigadier General Jakir Hasan for their alleged involvement and negligence of responsibility in journalists’ assault case.

Director of the private terrestrial channel of the country M Jahidul Islam filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.

The journalists of ETV claimed that, earlier on Saturday intern doctors, staffs and even high officials of the medical college hospital beat cameraman Monirul Islam and Reporter Ilias Hossain while they were covering news at the medical premises.

However, the Magistrate of CMM court Keshob Roy Chowdhury recorded the statement of the plaintiff Jahidul Islam and passed the order for further investigation by Detective Branch (DB) Police.
