2 school kids killed in Laxmipur clash

LAXMIPUR: Two school boys were killed and 14 others injured in a clash between two terrorists groups in Chandra Bazar area under Sadar Upazila of the district on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Rabiul Islam Shimul, 14, a student of class eight of Protabganj High School and Farhat Hossain Mamun, 16, a student of class ten of the school.

Witnesses said that Awami League-backed Nasir Group and BNP-backed Jisan Group locked into clash over establishing supremacy in the area around 9:00pm.

At one stage both groups opened firing and set fire in houses, leaving the two school boys injured.

Later, Shimul died on the way of hospital and Mamun died around 11:30pm in hospital.

Beside, Kazi Razu, 20, younger brother of Chandraganj Union Chhatra League president received bullet injury and others bullet injured people’s identity could not be known immediately.

Confirming the mater Chandraganj Police Outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohel Mia told banglanews, “The injured were rushed to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital, Noakhali Medical College and local clinics.
