BNP moves to Teesta Barrage

RANGPUR: BNP’s long march caravan will set off for the Teesta Barrage at Dalia-Doani point in Lalmonithat from the district on Wednesday morning.

The long march will start travelling after a short rally at the Rangpur central Shaheed Minar at 9:00am where BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Almagir will address the marchers.

BNP central leaders including  Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman, International Affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon, Education Affairs secretary Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shamsuzzaman Dulu, Selima Rahman and central and leaders and activist of its associate bodies are thronging the rally ground.

The programme will end with another public rally at Dalia at 11:00am of the day.

BNP started the two-day long march on April 22 to the Teesta River demanding fair share of the river’s water between Bangladesh and India.

On way to the Teesta, the party held the first street rally at Kaliakoir in Gazipur followed by rallies in Tangail, Sirajganj Bogra, and in Gobindaganj and Polashbari of Gaibandha on Tuesday.
