DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 8 militants obn Tuesday night in connection with snatching 3 JMB convicts from a prison van through ambush killing a cop in Trishal of Mymensingh.

Additional Police Super of RAB Media wing Sadira Khatun confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday morning.

Details in this regard will be informed in a press briefing at RAB headquarters at 12:00pm, she added.

On February 22, in an audacious ambush, masked gunmen fired at and bombed a prison van in Mymensingh’s Trishal, killed a policeman and freed three convicts of banned outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) tied to 2005 serial bombings.

The attack left Constable Atiqul Islam, 30, killed and two other cops hurt.
