DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina suggested that the mentality of dependency on others should end.
She said that people of our country are talented. They should stand on their feet. We do not want to be dependent on others. We want to be a nation with self-esteem.
The premier said at the inaugural session of the 55th convocation of IEB (Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh) at Engineers’ Institution auditorium in city on Saturday.
Calling for a consultation team by engineers, Sheikh Hasina said you (engineers) would provide your advices in different construction works in the country.
Why should we go for hiring consultants from abroad?, the PM asks the audience.
She said that the engineers are the people of this soil. They know the climate of this country better than foreign consultants.
About the much-talked about Padma bridge, the PM said that they had started construction of the bridge.
IEB president Shamimuzzaman Basunia, general secretary Mia Mohammad Qaiyum and Dhaka center chairman Mohsin Ali, among others, were present at the program.
