DHAKA: Narendra Modi could not become the next Indian prime minister and there would be no reason for risk to Bangladesh if things happen so.

He was addressing a round table meet titled “Indian Election 2014: Bangladesh-India Relationship” organized by Institute of Conflict, Law and Development Studies at Hotel Lakeshore in the city Gulshan area on Saturday.

The senior journalist opined that Modi would not be able to form a government in this election too easily; because capturing some 273 out of 543 parliamentary seats is not possible for his party, for this reason he has to seek for an alliance.

Secularism has become a challenge in this Indian election, Nayar said.

Moderated by journalist Samia Jaman, journalist Abed Khan, Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, international analyst Salimullah Khan, the former High Commissioners of India in Bangladesh, Bina Sikri and Dev Mukherjee, Barrister Amirul Islam, among others, spoke at the function.
