MYMENSINGH: A Mymensingh court on Sunday placed eight members of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a 10-day remand for their alleged involvement in killing police constable and militant-snatching incident of Trishal upazila.

The accused are Kamal Hossain Sabuj, Yunus Ali Sohag, Sohel Rana, Morshed Alam, Elias Uddin, Anwar Hossain, Abu Bakar Siddique, and Basir Uddin.

Mymensingh-3 Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge granted the remand plea for 10 days after they produced before the court in the noon.

On May 1, Maymensingh Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-3 sent the accused to jail and fixed Sunday for hearing on remand plea in the case after police produced them before the court with a 10-day remand.

Mymensingh District Detective Police (DB) Officer-in-Charge Mazedur Rahman confirmed the matter.

A group of JMB men attacked the prison van with guns and bombs, and snatched away three JMB convicts, killing one policeman and injuring two others in last February.

Two of the freed convicts--Rakibul Hasan Russel and Salahuddin Salehin alias Sunny--were on death row. The other one-- Jahidul Islam alias Bomaru Mizan-- was serving life-term.

Hours after the attack, Mizan was captured from Tangail and later killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police.
