JnU student commits “suicide” in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH: A Jagannath University (JnU) student allegedly committed suicide over force to marry in Kaliganj of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Madhabi Paul, 21, daughter of Arbind Paul, of College Para of the town.

Madhabi was a student of 3rd year at the department of Psychology of the university.

Local sources said police recovered her body on Monday morning, hanging with ceiling fan at her bedroom.

Kaliganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain said, on behalf of Madhabi’s family, she might commit suicide over feud with her father about her educational expense.

The body has been cremated without autopsy though her neighboring people alleged that Madhabi’s father confirmed her marry without her will recently. 

She was beaten often by her elder brother, to accept the proposal, sources said and she might have committed suicide over the incident.
