RANGAMATI: Miscreants gunned down two siblings at their residence house in Pakujjechari Rubber Garden area under Baghaichhari upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The victims were identified as Shushanta Chakma Shushil, 35, and Pridev Chakma, 40, sons of Kamini Kishore Karbari of the area. The brothers were former activists of Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS) (Santu Larma).

Earlier, three people were reported killed, which Bagahiichhari Thana police confirmed two deaths later.

Local and police sources said they were sleeping at their house, a group of miscreants called them, fired gunshots, killing them on the spot and fled away.

They had been involved in the politics of JSS and left that recently.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, JSS (MN Larma) Pahari Chhatra Parishad leader Sameer Chakma blamed JSS (Santu Larma) for the killing.”

Denying the allegation, JSS (Santu Larma) spokesperson Sajib Chakma, also central committee information and publicity secretary, said, “They have no link to the killing, JSS do democratic politics and we have no armed activist”.

Confirming the killing to banglanews at 8:00am, Baghaichhari Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Aziz said, “We are on the way to the spot, details will be informed later.”
