DHAKA: Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) will hold a protest rally demanding trial of killers of journalists’ couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi in front of its office on Jun 30.

DRU president Shahed Chowdhury made the announcement while addressing a protest program on same demand in front of National Press Club on Monday. 

The program of wearing black badge at the mouth, organized by the DRU, was attended by Dhaka Federal Journalist Union (DUJ) faction president Shawkat Mahmud, general secretary Jahangir Alam Prodhan, DRU ex-president Shakawat Hossain Badsha, and present general secretary Ilius Khan and so on.  

On February 11 in 2012, Sagar Sarowar, news editor of private TV station Maasranga, and his wife Meherun Runi, senior reporter of another channel ATN Bangla, had been killed at their rented flat in West Rajabazar in the city.
