Grenade blast hurts 9-army men

PARBATIPUR (DINAJPUR): Some nine army personnel were injured as two grenades blasted at Shaheed Mahbub Cantonment here in the district on Wednesday afternoon.

Of the injured, three are Warrant Officer Ketab Ali, 45, Sergeants Fazlu, 40 and Ramjan Ali, 40.

Regiment-16 Staff Officer of the cantonment Captain Mursalin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The nine army men of Bengal-34 Regiment of Rangpur Cantonment were injured as two grenades fell unconsciously and blasted while they were carrying them (grenades) to the shooting range of Shaheed Mahbub Cantonment for practicing, he added.

The injured army personnel were first admitted to Combined Medical Hospital (CMH), Rangpur later transferred to Dhaka CMH.

Lt Col Dr Saki of Ragpur CMH confirmed of sending the army men to Dhaka.

Director of Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) of Bangladesh Army Shahinul Islam told banglanews that the news of two dead spread in the area is not true.
