DHAKA: The 12th death anniversary of country’s journalism education pioneer professor QAIM Nooruddin will be observed Monday.

He was also one of the founder teachers of Dhaka University (DU) Mass Communication and Journalism Department.

Prof Nooruddin, who was also a former chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha(BSS), died of heart attack at Suhrawardy Hospital on May 19 in 2002.

Prof Nooruddin joined Dhaka University in 1964 and was Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism for three times before he went on retirement in June 2000.

An overwhelmingly respected personality in the educational arena, Prof Nooruddin was the Bangladesh Representative of Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC) till death.  

He was also a visiting professor of the American Southern University of Illinois.

His family members urged all to pray for eternal peace of the departed soul of Nooruddin.
