COX’S BAZAR: A businessman was shot dead as an armed Robber gang opened fire and 10 others received bullet injuries when they chased the gang in Kolatoli area of the district town early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abul Monsur, 48, resident of the area.

Locals and police sources said that a group of 10 to 12 masked robbers committed robbery at local Shafiq’s house in the area around 4:00am. Sensing the presence of the dacoits, the locals announced the incident at the mike of a mosque.

At one stage, the locals chased the robbers. During the time, the robbers counter attacked on the locals, leaving Abul shot dead on the spot and 10 others sustained bullet injuries.

The injured were rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital and Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

However, acting on tip off, police raided a local hospital and nabbed one of the robbers from there.

Sub-Inspector of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Thana Mahmudul Karim confirmed the matter to banglanews.
