DHAKA: New Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed his wish to Bangladesh within short span of time.
The prime minister of India made the assertion when Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangshad, called on him on Tuesday afternoon.
The Speaker met with Modi at Hydrabad House in Delhi of India.
In the half an hour meeting, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury asked Modi to sign land boundary agreement and Teesta water sharing deal.
Modi also assured that he would take effective steps to strengthen the relationship between Bangladesh and India.
In the parley, on behalf of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Speaker also invited Modi to visit the country. In response, he expressed wish to visit Bangladesh as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, sources said Sheikh Hasina sent a letter to her Indian counterpart calling for a “speedy final resolution” of all pending issues between the two countries.
In the letter, she said, “I do believe that under your dynamic leadership we shall be able to resolve amicably, at the earliest, the pending issues that have remained in suspended animation for the last several years.”
She reiterated her government’s keen interest in working jointly with his government for the betterment of the people of the two countries.
