Storm kills 3, hurts 50 in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR: A storm lashed Sharmara village of Bagarchar union in Bakshiganj upazila in the district on Wednesday left three people dead and more than 50 injured.

The deceased were identified as Salu 50, the owner of a mill and Masum 30, a worker of the mill and Mesed Ali 60, a pedestrian.

The 3-4 minutes long storm destroyed over one hundred houses including shops in the area at 11:30am.

Confirming the mater to banglanews union parishad chairman Abdul Majed said that Salu and Masum died when a wall of the mill collapsed on them during the storm.

Seriously injured, Mesed Ali died later, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Shahabuddin Ahmed, Police Super Nazrul Islam and Bakshiganj Upazila chairman Abdur Rouf, among others, have gone to visit the area.
