MADARIPUR: Two people were killed as lightning struck them in Diapara of Kunia union under Sadar Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hye Chawkidar, 55, a former village police and Liton Akon, 20, son of Seken Akon.

Sources said that lightening stuck the victims while they were cultivating their land in the area, leaving Abdul Hye dead on the spot and Liton critically injured.

Later, Liton was rushed to Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mofazzal Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
