GOLONDO, RAJBARI: Vehicular movements through the ferry ghats of the Daulatdia-Paturia river channel stopped due to shortage of ferry from Saturday afternoon.

Among 15 ferries, at present, nine are being used to carry the vehicles as six ferries are not functioning.

As a result, Hundreds of buses and trucks remained stranded at two sides of the river Padma, causing immense sufferings  to thousands homebound and Dhaka coming people.

Banglanews Manikganj correspondent reports: Ferry shortage caused the long queue of vehicles in and around Paturia Ghat.  Around 300 vehicles had been waiting to embark on a ferry till filing the report at 9:11am.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Daulatdia office manager Shafiqul Islam said movement of hundreds of vehicles has been halted due to ferry shortage and sudden rain.
