Alternative Dispute Resolution next month Law Minister Anisul Haque

DHAKA: The government will formulate ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)’ system in the next month to resolve cases across the country immediately.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Minister Advocate Anisul Huq made the disclosure while addressing a workshop at Biam auditorium on Sunday morning.

Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund organized the event on ‘Judicial Mediation Skill Training for Active Judges’.

The law minister said, at present, there are over 28 lakh cases under subjudice in the High Court and lower courts. Of those, around 23 lakh cases at judge court and eight lakh at magistrate courts remained pending.

To solve this problem, judges are being trained, he added.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is an alternative way for reaching a speedier and less-expensive mode of settlement of disputes outside of courts, by one more impartial and independent arbitrator(s), which the parties have agreed to by means of arbitration agreement.

It includes mediation, settlement of disputes, arbitration and other ways that are voluntary and not compulsory.
