Writ seeking rules using flag in car

DHAKA: A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Monday seeking ban on using of national flag other than constitutional institutions.

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Hasan MS Azim filed the writ petition on behalf of lawyer Kamal Hossain Miaji and M Shamsul Islam.

The writ will be placed before a High Court bench of Justice Kazi Reza-ul-Haque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain for hearing on Tuesday.

Cabinet secretary, home secretary, law secretary, public administration secretary, inspector general of police, police commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan and BRTA chairman were made respondents to the writ.

The petitioner also urged to issue a rule asking why the failure to add a section to ban using of national flag except constitutional and law institutions to Bangladesh Flag Rule, 1972 should not be declared illegal.

They also seek another rule asking why the defendant would not be ordered to add only constitutional and law related organizations to Bangladesh Flag Rule, 1972.
