DHAKA: Budget session of the tenth national parliament started Tuesday afternoon with speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also leader of the House, opposition leader Rowshan Ershad attended the maiden budget session of the incumbent government.

It is the 44th budget for Bangladesh.

Earlier, President Abdul Hamid called the 2nd session of the new parliament by exercising the power bestowed upon him as per article 72 (1) of the constitution.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will place his 8th budget for the 2014-15 fiscal on June 5.

For the first time, opposition Jatiya Party joined in the budget session.

The first session of the 10th parliament began on January 29 and continued to April 10, 2014.
