CHAPAINAWABGANJ: At least six people including a woman and her son were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Sadar, Shibganj and Gomastapur upazilas of the district.

The deceased were identified as Ayesh Uddin, 60, of Baliadanga union of Sadar upazila, Shiein Akter, 28, wife of Ruhul, her three years old son Abu Sayed at Birahipur village of Shibganj, Md Saiful Islam, son of late Arep Ali of Imammagar village of  Gomastapur Upazila and Sadiqul Islam, 45, son of Monjur Hossain of Laoghatta village of Shibganj upazila.

They all were killed between 8:30 to 10:00 pm Monday.

Family sources said Ayesh Uddin killed in lightning as he standing in front of his house.

Locals said that Shiein and her son Abu Sayed were struck by lightning when they went to collect mangoes in an orchard in Birahipur village of Shibganj upazila.

In the same upazila, at Laoghatta village, Sadiqul was hit by lightning strike for the same reason. 

Saiful also killed in the strike when he went to gather mangoes near his house in Imammagar village of Gomastapur Upazila.
