Elevated Expressway construction in Sept

DHAKA: The main construction work of much-talked about Elevated Expressway will begin in the last week of September, said communications minister Obaidul Quader.

For Padma Bridge construction, a deal is expected to be signed with China Bridge Company by this month, the minister added.

He said at a program on Thursday morning at Setu Bhaban in city’s Mohakhali area.

The minister distributed cheques to the affected people due to the construction of the Elevated Expressway.

The minister said that this 20km expressway will connect Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar and Kamlapur in city.

The government will compensate the affected people as well as rehabilitate them, he added.

Regarding Padma Bridge, the communication minister said the government, by this month, will sign an agreement with China Bridge Company for the main infrastructure of the bridge.

Member of Parliament Advocate Sahara Khatun and Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Yusuf Harun, among others, were present at the program.
