DHAKA: Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) is going to begin its five-day long 54th council meeting and the 12th annual forum in Dhaka from September 8.
Some 300 representatives from Commonwealth countries related to telecommunication and information technology sector, including ministers, secretaries, regulatory chiefs, high officials of government and private organizations will take part in the forum.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Director General Brigadier General Golam Maula made the disclosure in a press conference at his office in the city on Thursday.
Lasantha De Alwis (Director and Head of the Operations Department/Corporate Secretary) of CTO, International Manager Robert Heyman and BTRC Director General (admin) Avijit Chowdhury were present at the press meet.
Officials of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission said that Bangladesh would be hosting the event for the first time and the BTRC already approved the proposal.
The 54th CTO council meeting and 12th annual forum are scheduled to be held at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka.
Earlier, the forum was held in Nigeria.
