NARAYANGANJ: Ex-RAB official Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, one of the main accused of Narayanganj 7-murder case, was sent to jail on Wednesday after taking deposition in the killing of Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others.
Tareque Sayeed was produced before the court for recording deposition after 32-day remand in 6-phase in the case and he gave confessional statement.
Sources said Tareque Sayeed Mohammad delivered his statement under section 164 of criminal procedure at judge’s chamber there.
A Narayanjganj police official said that the accused RAB official was brought to the court at 9:00am.
Tareque was remanded six times on different terms in the much talked Narayanganj seven murder cases.
Earleir, RAB-11 former commander Major Arif Hossain and another forment officer SM Rana gave confessional statement before a district court under section 164 on June 4 and 5 respectively.
Narayanganj city Ward Counsillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five others were abducted on April 27.
Their bodies surfaced in the Shitalakkhya River three days later. Autopsy report said the seven persons were murdered by professionals.
Later, Nazrul's father-in-law alleged that the ex-RAB trio were hired in exchange for Tk6 crore to abduct and kill the seven.
Following the allegations, RAB sent the three officials -- former commanding officer of RAB 11 Tarek Sayeed, Major Arif and Lt Commander Rana to forced retirement.
