DHAKA: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the construction works of the Metro Rail would start on April in the next year the tender would be invited in December this year.

The minister made the disclosure in a press briefing at the conference room of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in the noon.

Awami League lawmaker also said the biggest engineering work of the country would be finished in 2019.

Quader also said, “Survey of BRTA Line-3 is underway. It is still on design only. Around 60,000 passengers would commute through 16 stations of the Metro Rail after the completion of the line.”

The minister also directed BRTA chairman to take steps to stop plying of vehicles without fitness on the roads in Dhaka.

He also asked DMP to take actions against VIPs, excluding the Prime Minister and President, for driving at the wrong side of roads.
