2 electrocuted in Chittagong

2 electrocuted in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG: Two people were electrocuted in different areas of the port city on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Taposh Chakrabaorty, 28, son of Dilip Chakraborty, of Aholla Prokash Dhalghat village under Kareldenga union of Boalkhali upazila and Shakil, 19, son of Sohrab Hossain, hailed from Mithakandi village under Naria upazila of Shariatpur district.

Witness said Taposh, an electrician, was injured after he came in contact with electric wire while repairing power supply line at Al-Arafah Islami Bank in Sadarghat area of the city around 1:00pm.

He was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries, said CMCH police camp Sub-Inspector (SI) Pankaj Barua.

Earlier, Shakil, a mechanic, was injured while working at a workshop at Akbar Shah Thana area.

Later, doctors declared him dead after at the CMCH.
