DHAKA: The government has given approval to the draft of informal education act 2014 to stop premature withering away of students and to increase rate of adult education.
The approval came from a regular meeting of the cabinet on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed journalists.
A separate education board also would be formed for Upanusthanik Shikkha (non-formal education), he added.
He said, under the law, an informal education board would be constituted to develop curriculum, equivalency between formal and non-formal education, taking examinations and giving certificates.
The government has decided to gear up the informal education in the country to create opportunity for all to have access to education and a ‘second chance' for the drop outs, the newsmen were told.
