DHAKA: India, finally, will extradite the prime accused of Narayanjganj 7-murder Nur Hossain, who was arrested in Kolkata.
If India inclined to accede Bangladesh’s request to extradite Nur Hossain, he would be the first Bangladeshi to be deported from the neighboring country since the signing of the extradition pact between the two countries in December 2013.
The Indian Express on Sunday published a report where a senior Indian government official said that they are looking into the case and may consider Bangladesh’s request favorably.
Without mentioning the officer’s name the report said that New Delhi is seeking details about Nur Hossain from Dhaka.
The Indian media also included that Hossain’s extradition issue is expected to figure during the visit of the country’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to Bangladesh on June 25.
The minister is likely to meet top Bangladeshi leaders and also have discussions with her counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
Nur Hossain and two other Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on June 15 in Kolkata for not having valid documents for entering India.
All three are currently in police custody there.
