42 Bangladeshis held in India

DHAKA: Indian police arrested at least 42 Bangladeshi nationals including 12 women from there territory of North 24-Parganas of West Bengal state over the past two days.

They have been arrested for illegally entry in the country, The Times of India reports on Tuesday without mentioning the identities of the detainees.

Police told media that most of them had crossed the border from Petrapole border. Cops in civil clothes kept watch on Bongaon bus terminus from where most of them were rounded up.

‘Policemen have been posted at strategic locations to keep an eye on infiltrators. We are planning to hold a meeting with BSF officials on this issue,’ North 24-Parganas SP Tanmoy Roychowdhury said.
