MADARIPUR: Counting underway in Madaripur Sadar upazila election on Thursday afternoon as vote casting ended after continuing from 8:00am to 4:00pm without any break.   

Some 11 candidates are vying for three posts- chairman, vice-chairman and woman vice-chairman. 

A total of 766 polling officers, 68 presiding officers and 383 assistant presiding officers have taken votes in 383 booths of 68 vote centers in the upazila.

Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were seen patrolling in the voting centers.
