FROM PARLIAMENT: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed to impose surcharge on the usage of mobile instead of mobile phone set import.

The premier made the observation in budget session in the parliament on Saturday.

Sheikh Hasina said, “We want to produce mobile phone in the country and want to establish this industry. But mobile phone sets provided by our native companies are not sufficient to meet country’s high demand.” 

So, to import extra phone set from abroad it should withdraw tax and surcharge from mobile sets and its equipments,” she opined.    

The prime minister also proposed to reduce tax at source on real estate sector as the industry facing dull market.
