10 killed in Jessore road mishap

JESSORE: At least 10 people were killed and 16 others injured in a road accident on Jessore-Benapole highway in Gadkhali area of Shikargacha Thana in the district on

Five of the deceased were identified as Prasenjit, 38, Abdus Salam, 32, ranjit Paul, 34, Bidyet, 32, and Jaman.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Reshma Sharmin said that the accident occurred when a speedy bus of Shohag Paribahan coming from Dhaka hit with a tree as its driver lost control over the steering in the area around 7:00 am, leaving five men and a woman dead on the spot.

Other four passengers were declared dead after taking them to the Shikargacha Upazila Health Complex and Jessore Medical Collage and Hospital.

Police and fire service units recovered the body and sent them for autopsy.
