DHAKA: Some 17 persons and institutions honored were awarded with medal ‘Jatiya Matsya Padak’ for their important role in fish sector.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday handed over the prizes at the inaugural of Jatiya Matsya Saptah in city’s Bangabandhu International Conference Center.

Amongst the winners, 4 won gold medal while rest are silver.

The gold medal achievers are SB Group of Industries Chairman M Shahjahan, 66 infantry division of Rangpur Cantonment, Sea Fresh Ltd. Managing Director Masuduri Rahman, Sardar Matsya Khamar Director Belal Hossain Sardar.

Sources said that each of them achieved a TK. 50,000 cheque at that time.

The silver medal winner persons are Niribili Matsya Khamar direc tor Sayeeda Sarwar Jahan, Abul Hasnat from Mymensingh, ATM Piarul Islam from Chittagong, Abu Thaer from Rangamati, Abdul Monayem Kaykobad from Brahmonbaria, Asim Saha from Natore, Hafizur Rahman from Pabna.

And the institutions who won in this category are Mymensingh’s Khwaza Matsya Hatchery, Noakhali’s Bismillah Agro production, Jessore’s Bhai Bhai Matsya Khamar, Asia Matsya Khamar from Bhola, Masum Shrimp Hatchery Pvt Ltd.

Each of them also achieved cash of TK. 30,000 at that time.
