PANCHAGARH: Two people were killed and two others injured as lighting struck them at Debiganj upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Ranjita Roy, 35, wife of Manglu Roy of Kamatpara village of the upazila and Pramod Roy, 18, son of Khagendranath Roy of Baniapara village.

Witnesses said lightning struck Ranjita along with her husband and a neighbor around 10:30am, leaving them injured.

Later, she succumbed to her injuries on way to hospital.

Besides, Pramod Roy was killed as lightning struck him while he was sitting on his home yard.

Debiganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Kaysar Ali Khan confirmed the incidents.
