Sufiur made envoy to Myanmar

DHAKA: The government has decided to appoint M Sufiur Rahman, currently serving as our High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, as the new Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

A career diplomat, M Sufiur Rahman belongs to the 9th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre. 

In his distinguished diplomatic career besides his High Commissionership in Colombo, Rahman served in Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi and Islamabad and in Bangladesh Permanent Mission to UN, Geneva in various capacities.

He also served in the SAARC Secretariat as a Director.

M Sufiur Rahman graduated in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka and also holds an MBA from IBA, Dhaka University.

He is married and has two daughters and a son.
