BD-Rohingya marriage illegal

DHAKA: The government has declared the marriage registration between Rohingya and Bangladesh illegal.

Judicial actions will be taken against marriage registrar (kazi), said a notification from the secretariat on Thursday.

Law, justice and parliamentary affairs minister Anisul Haque was talking to journalists after the concluding meeting of 3-day conference of deputy commissioners in the city.

The incumbent government is taking this sort of judicial action against Rohingyas who got married to Bangladeshis.

The law minister said that in the conference they have talked about early marriage and marriage with Rohingyas.

From now on, if any kazi register marriage of a Rohingya to a Bangladeshi, the registration will be cancelled and judicial action will be taken to the kazi.

A notification has been circulated today, the minister added.

He emphasized saying that first of all, there will be no marriage with Rohingya. Secondly, if the marriage is done it will be considered illegal.

The Rohingyas will be benefited with the marriage registration, he added.
