Remand plea for 12 Hizb-ut men denied

DHAKA: A court on Monday rejected remand and bail pleas of 12 members of Hizb-ut Tahrir, a banned outfit, who were arrested for allegedly instigating people at Ramna Siddheswari Kali Mandir on Saturday.

Metropolitan Magistrate Yunus Khan passed the order when sub-inspector of Ramna Thana Abul Kalam Azad produced them with a 5-day remand.  

Three of the arrestees are chief news editor of Daily Desher Potro SM Shamsul Huda, special correspondent of it Farid Uddin Robbani, editor of Daily News Humayan Kabir. 

On Saturday, the members of Hizb ut-Tahrir entered into the Kali Mandir and were trying to instigate people.

At one stage, they locked into clash with the people of the temple.

General Secretary of the temple Anjan Roy Nandi informed it to police and the law enforcers arrested them.
