KHAGRACHHARI: A UP member and supporter of PCJSS was kidnapped from Bormachhari village in Laxmichhari upazila on Tuesday night.

Police and local sources said unidentified miscreants picked up Bormachhari UP member Chaitho Pru Chowdhury from his village, 20 miles far from the police station, at around 8pm Tuesday.

Laxmichhari thana OC Rezaul Alam told bangnews24.com.bd it was suspected that UPDF members might have kidnapped Chaitho Pru, a supporter of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS).

Niron Chakma, information and publicity secretary of the anti-peace pact UPDF, however, denied their involvement in the incident.

Thana sources said police were informed about the incident on Wednesday morning though it happened on Tuesday night.

Police and army personnel already started rescue operation in the hills, sources close to the army said.
